Hotel Okura has announced something exciting: a brand-new resort called The Okura Resort Hakone Gora will open in 2029. It will be the first Okura Resort in Japan and will be built in Gora, one of Hakone’s most famous hot spring areas.
Hakone attracts millions of visitors every year for its relaxing hot springs, museums, and beautiful mountain scenery. The new resort will be surrounded by nature and will offer amazing views of the Hakone mountains, including Myojogatake.
Every room—58 in total—will have its own private open-air hot spring bath using water from Owakudani. The design will follow a calming “Forest Hideaway” theme created by renowned designer Gwenael Nicolas, giving guests a peaceful place to unwind.
The hotel will also feature a large bathing area with saunas, a fine dining restaurant with teppanyaki, a bar lounge, and spa treatment rooms. According to Hotel Okura President Toshihiro Ogita, the resort will focus on offering warm, traditional omotenashi hospitality.
The resort will be easy to reach—just a short trip from Gora Station or the Naka-Gora cable car. More details will be shared as the opening year approaches.
