Despite this development, Netanyahu cautioned that Israel would persist in targeting Hezbollah if assaults on Israeli civilians continued.
The situation intensified as Israel issued evacuation warnings for certain areas in Beirut. In retaliation, Iran warned that any substantial Israeli offensive on the Lebanese capital or its southern suburbs would prompt counterstrikes against targets within Israel.
