Amid escalating tensions over global energy security, President Donald Trump urged countries to implement a “complete economic isolation” of Iran. Speaking at the United Nations General Assembly in New York, Trump linked the persistent global energy price hikes to the ongoing conflict with Iran, stressing that international unity could mitigate these economic pressures.
Trump defended the United States’ decision to strike Iran and sternly reiterated that Tehran must not be permitted to develop a nuclear weapon. He warned that without a forthcoming agreement, the U.S. might resort to additional military measures. “I call on all nations to help to enforce the complete economic isolation of Iran,” Trump stated, emphasizing the need for a collective response.
In his address, Trump also highlighted the potential of artificial intelligence, rejecting calls for tighter restrictions on the technology. He compared the transformative power of AI to that of the Industrial Revolution, dismissing concerns about its potential risks as a “hoax.”
Additionally, Trump announced plans to establish two new U.S. military bases in Greenland, under an arrangement with Denmark. These facilities, he asserted, would bolster the defense of both the American continent and Europe.
The president’s speech also touched upon the conflict between Russia and Ukraine, indicating that he was nearing a settlement over this issue. The resolution of such geopolitical tensions, he suggested, could help ease the strain on global energy prices, particularly those affected by disruptions around the Strait of Hormuz.
